Cancelation

loan cancelation is available only for federal direct student loans and federal perkins loans.

In order to qualify for a service-based loan cancelation you must be employed full time for a period of twelve consecutive months in a qualifying position. In addition:

You must submit the proper cancelation request form at the beginning of the twelve month period in order to defer your payment. If a form is not received you will be required to make monthly payments on your loan. Any payment received will not be refunded.
Forms must be received annually if you continue your employment in a qualifying position and are requesting cancelation benefits. If you change employers during the twelve-month period you must complete a form from your previous employer and your current employer.
All forms must be signed by an individual who will certify your employment status.
